History of Hamdard Dawakhana

Established first by an accomplished pharmacist and physician of Tibb-i-Unani, Hakim Hafiz Abdul Majeed in Delhi, India in 1906; shifted to Karachi, when Pakistan was created, where he was joined by his son and a visionary physician, Hakim Mohammed Said, in the two-room clinic of the Tibb-i-Unani (Eastern Medicine).
Hamdard gained extraordinary popularity within a short period of time, and its star product, Rooh Afza syrup, and the medicines it formulated became known throughout Pakistan. Hamdard Dawakhana became a household name.
